Travel Tips

We are recommending that travellers arrive in North Bay September 21 and depart from Ottawa September 26 or 27.

"The Symposium will arrange ground transportation from the Ottawa airport direct to the Canadian Ecology Centre on September 21.

There will be only one departure time from Ottawa, in the afternoon, specific time to be determined.  If you wish to use this service, please contact Nancy Young (nancy@canadianecology.ca tel 705 744-1715 ext. 607) before September 1 to book a ride.  It is important to notify Nancy so that we may plan for this service.  A modest fee will be charged per passenger."

Please advise Nancy Young (nancy@canadianecology.ca tel. 705-744-1715 ext. 607) of your planned arrival time in North Bay. We will arrange transportation to the Canadian Ecology Centre (40 minute drive to the east) at no extra charge.

However, you might choose to make alternate arrangements to meet your particular needs.  North Bay airport is serviced by Air Canada  with flights from Toronto. Bearskin Airlines operates flights between Ottawa and North Bay.

North Bay to and from Toronto (345 km) are accessible by train Ontario Northland or by highway coach Ontario Northland  or  Greyhound.

Ottawa to and from North Bay (365 km) is accessible by highway coach Greyhound.

Ottawa and Toronto are accessible by air Air Canada, train Via Rail or highway coach Greyhound.

The trips may be made by rental car on major provincial highways.  Note that the symposium includes transportation between Canadian Ecology Centre and Ottawa - in-symposium field tour on September 24. Travellers should not plan on keeping a rental car throughout the symposium.
